Great player. Pretty serious condition. Hope the best for him.

After undergoing medicals at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine, it appears that the biggest concern surrounding Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Jarvis Jones has been confirmed.  Jones’ medical history, which includes spinal stenosis that forced him to leave the USC Trojans, has caused some NFL teams to remove Jones from their draft board altogether.
According to Pro Football Talk:

Per a league source, Jones’ neck has prompted multiple teams to shy away from considering him, especially in round one.  He left USC due to concerns over his spinal stenosis.  The fact that Georgia welcomed him with open arms shows that reasonable medical minds will differ on whether to take the risk associated with a narrowed spinal canal.

These are exactly the kind of concerns that had Jones dropping in some previous mock drafts. He could now see his stock fall out of the first round completely if the concerns are that great.
Of course, this could just be posturing from other teams that are hoping Jones will slide down the draft so that they can select him in April.
You always have to take information with a grain of salt this time of year, so be cautious of any criticism or negative comments you hear.

Complete BS. That's just a smokescreen by somebody to try and convince other teams to pass on him. Besides, there is not one "league source" (as they are attributing this to) who knows what "multiple" teams draft boards look like. If Jarvis had a serious condition, he wouldn't have been cleared to play at Georgia and then proceeded to play at such a high level for two years. Teams often pull stunts like this to try and get a player to drop a couple of spots where they might be able to draft him. Don't believe for one second that anybody will pass on him because of medical concerns. That might have been valid concern if he had gone to the draft straight from getting shut down at USC, but not now.

If this is legit, I can't say that I'm completely surprised.  Hopefully Hobnail is right though and it is someone trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes.  Either way, really hope to see him play successfully at the next level.

Dude, it's weak. Multiple doctors examined Jarvis before clearing him to play. UGA would never have put him on the field if there was any doubt. I guarantee you that the "league source" this is coming from is a mid to low level staff member of an organization drafting somewhere between 5th and 15th in the draft and put this out there on the off-chance it gets some traction and he miraculously falls a few spots to them. It's not gonna happen.

Maybe he was fine to play at UGA, but some NFL teams are concerned about his future playing ability. They make a pretty serious investment for 1st rounders, and expect that player to be around for quite awhile.

So he could be just fine right now with no concerns, but some teams might be worried (or paranoid) about his long-term prognosis. A few things about the draft in recent years, there's never any shortage of drama, real and imagined, or curious decisions.

I think whoever gets Jones will be pleased with their decision... you have to think UGA would never have set itself up for a lawsuit by playing someone who had any chance of serious injury because of his condition.

My wife has stenosis and was fine until she fell and hit it wrong. Now, shes had two back surgeries and has had her vertebrae fused at L4 and L5. You can have stenosis and live a healthy life but one wrong lick and you're in trouble.

That literally goes for every player in the NFL. They know this. This is a smokescreen.

I'm specifically talking about stenosis. I don't know if he has it or not. I'm talking about how it worked with my wife. She fell and did it. So its a bit more than just getting hit.

I've said all I'm going to about it. No point in discussing what has already been medically examined and dismissed.

smokescreen. I still think he can go top 5, maybe even 2nd to Jacksonville.

He's one of the best Linebackers out there if not the best.  I hope it isn't true, but any medical problem when you specifically use your body to bring home the pay check is a scary situation.  Best of luck to him.

Said the same thing about Latty that I will now. I hope he plays lights out and never gets injured in the big league, but I hope he doesn't put himself in a position to be hurt and put in a wheel chair for the rest of his life having the knowledge something is already wrong.
