J-Ups would be the best there, I think. Here's how I would do the lineup -

1. Simmons
2. BJ
3. J-Hey
4. J-Ups
5. Freddie
6. Mac
7. Uggs
8. Juan Johnson

Given BJ's batting average and his tendency to strikeout, I wouldn't want him at the top of the line-up.  I agree with your assessment of McCann though.  The 6-7 spot is about where he belongs.

1) Simmons
2) Heyward
3) J. Upton
4) Freeman
5) B.J. Upton
6) McCann
7) Uggla
8) Johnson

Thats what our line-up will ultimately look like with these players.  Their relative positions might change but I believe this is our best line-up.  I think Chris Johnson is just the better ball player right now compared to Juan Francisco.  I think the 6-8 spots can rotate based on the relative play of each player.  Chris Johnson is the better hitter but McCann and Uggla have been pretty good at driving in runs.

I think its safe to say though that this will be McCann's last season with us..... it will save us some money to sign some of our younger talent and its the smart move considering the injuries that have been hampering McCann lately.  Its the nature of the business unfortunately....

I haven't seen any images of Juan in spring training yet but the guy would benefit from losing some pounds because it would make him lighter on his feet and I think it would make him a better defensively as well.  It might cost him a bit of his power but I think it will help him out overall.

Personally, I don't even know why y'all are debating it.  Chris Johnson at 3b will fill in seamlessly into the order.  You can get over his K's so long as he's slugging like he has been.

Gattis though, that's a new name.  Haven't heard that one and I follow baseball and the Bravos pretty closely.

Gattis jumped on the scene last year in Spring Training. He's 26 years old. Was a stud player in high school/college but left the game for years because of substance abuse problems, moved out west and worked odd jobs as a janitor/ski lift operator in the Colorado rockies. He returned to the game a couple of years ago and now appears to be in position to earn a bench spot.

I was of the opinion that we shouldn't have exercised the club option for this year. I thought that money would prevent us from making big moves, but seeing as how we landed both Uptons, it worked out. Hopefully Bethancourt is ready to go next year, because we'll need him to be.

All is right with the world.

Heyward hit his first homer of the spring. Gattis also homered yesterday.

Solid efforts from Huddy, Maholm and Julio in the first three games.

You can't take away a whole lot from the first three games of ST, but it's something to talk about.

On the negative, Chris Johnson botched an infield pop fly yesterday and Jonny V gave up a double and a HR in one inning today.

Top battles to watch this spring:

1. 3B - Chris Johnson and Juan Francisco
2. Final relief pitcher - Cory Gearrin, David Carpenter, Anthony Varvaro and potentially J.R. Graham.
3. 5th starter - Julio Teheran and Sean Gilmartin.
4. Final bench spot - Evan Gattis, Jordan Schafer, Tyler Pastornicky and Jose Constanza.

What is everyone's opinion on Johnny Venters? Does he return to form from two seasons ago or does he continue to struggle as he did last season? Anyone hearing how he's been pitching?

He got banged around today in what was I think his first outing.

I feel like he'll do better than last year but not as outstanding as 2011. So overall, pretty strong ... not necessarily dominating.
