Coach Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide are a match made in Heaven, and it's been hell on everybody else.

He's won three out of the last four BCS national championships at Alabama, and he follows that up by hauling in the consensus number one recruiting class in the nation. Again. Lather, rinse, repeat. Re-load, rock on. It's almost embarrassing.

Non-Alabama football fans must be thinking: "What the hell? Did Saban go down to the crossroads and sign a deal with the devil?"

Recruiting is hard, tiresome work. Heavy lifting. But it seems to get a little easier after you've hoisted a few crystal footballs.

Saban isn't in league with Satan. Right now, he's simply in a league of his own.

I think he'll retire before he gets complacent.  As much time and energy as he pours into it I can't imagine him coaching too much longer - but he'll miss it when he retires too.

It's easy to recruit to Bama.

I'd be much more impressed if he rebuilt a team like Utah State or some team like that.
Heck, as much as I don't want to say it as it will go to Hoganknows head, I've been much more impressed with Franklin's rebuilding efforts than Lord Satan's effortless recruiting.

For that matter, The Freezus and Merlin have also done a much better job on the recuiting front, imo, than Nicky Satan has.

It's hardly difficult to recruit when you can show off 10 legitimate NC's and lie about 4 more. Tradition like that speaks for itself.

Honestly, I'd be more impressed if two of the 'ships did not have a loss each and one were not won without even winning the SEC...on a rematch against a team that beat you.

But yea, that aside, nobody can touch him anyways, eh.

He rebuilt Bama back to prominence and thus, he doesn't have to "sell" the program anymore. If Freeze and Mullens did a better job of recruiting, shouldn't the recruiting ranking prove that ?

Even during the Schula years, Schula could always fall back on the tradition aspect.

I did not say that Mullen and Freeze had a better class; I said that I was more impressed by their (and Franklin's) efforts at schools who do not have the tradition that Bama has (State and Vandy) or whose tradition (read claimed NC's) was long ago and nearly forgotten (Ole Miss).

I'm not selling Satan short; I'm just saying having the luxuries he has at Bama make recruiting all the more easy.
Hell, the job he did in Hell (baton rouge) was fairly impressive, as they had fallen off quite a bit, and even still, led them to a NC in 2007.

The man is a helluva a recruiter, as the OP opines, but all I'm saying is with the ammo he has behind him, it's rather easy to be said helluva a recruiter.

@ForwardRebels I think you're a little off saying Freeze and Mullen have done more. Mullens only an average recruiter as it is, and Freeze has only had one class.

I think Saban has pulled in something like 3 out of the last 4 number 1 classes. That's impressive anywhere in the country. But that's just me
It is impressive, but he doesn't have to do much to sell the program now does he?

Freeze has to battle a whole plethora of issues when recruiting (and overcame them this go-round) and Mullen has to overcome Mississippi State, whose last two claims to fame come from 1941 and 1998.

Selling OM and State to top prospects is all the more difficult; that's all I'm saying.

#1 recruiting classes & BCS titles 3 out of the last 4 years.......pffffffff. not impressed. After all, it's at Alabama. And they lost a couple of gameas along the way too.  Pfffffffff Saban.

Over the 800,000 years i've watched college ball there have been several teams that just seemed they couldn't be beat. They would go 4 or 5 years of awesome. Alabama, under saban, has had the best run of that bunch. I've also noticed that teams seem to take on the personality of their fans. That may be our only hope over the next few years. Here are a few things i have said before on this site:

1 you can't out recruit saban
2 you won't out coach saban
3 you can on rare occasions out score saban

Last year's alabama team went farther than the extra mile during the off season. They did more than enough cause it is the first time saban was pleased. Once these kids take in the attitude of the fans that won't happen again. That isn't much of a weak link but it has to start somewhere.
