@Boba Fett - Thought you'd be excited for this news, if you hadn't already heard: Han Solo and Boba Fett stand alone films, to go along with the new sequels.

Hopefully Disney can work the same magic for the Star Wars franchise that they did with Marvel.

This will blow so hard I'm amazed you people are this calm about it.

Han Solo movie? It will be a younger, teenage solo movie geared towards teens and pre-teens. I can already see Disney casting Shia LaBeouf as a "cool, badass Han that appeals to the rebel teen spirit."

Han was a cold-hearted bastard in the originals and any movie about him would have to be gritty and rough and dark. They will make it into garbage.

Disney has done a great job with the Marvel series so don't be so quick to rush to a opinion.

both of those characters should be cast as something dark...not gonna happen with disney though, unless they start taking themselves seriously.

2 different animals, marvel and bobba fett, not the same thing not even close, think about what a movie about a bounty hunter should really look like, then think about what marvel films look like....

I dunno. These two things were pretty different but they pulled both off pretty well.

Edit* They can't do a worse job then Lucas. The best thing he could have ever done was sell the rights.

None of the Star Wars movies are ever going to be rated "R" by anyone who would make it. You realize how much money would be lost by doing so? Millions upon millions.

Seriously? Disney has proven that they have a more hands-off approach with properties that they didn't create. They are not going to ruin Star Wars. For that, you should blame George Lucas.

What?

Touchstone Pictures. Disney has a separate distributor for more mature films. They have made several R-rated films, and some damn fine films (most notably, Lincoln).

It's so funny that people are "scared" of Disney, as in they assume Disney will try to get involved and cuten up any property they touch. That is so far from the truth.

Fact: Disney wants a teenage Han Solo movie.

now you sit there and tell me how they make this a mature movie. This will be indiana jones Jr.

The Bobba movie could be good. The TEENAGE Han Solo one? There's little hope for that one.

How do you know this for a fact? Everything that came up on google says mid to late 20's between "revenge and New Hope"

The whole interview that gave rise to these "solo movies" mentioned that the Solo one would take place before the original trilogy, featuring the younger years of Han.

The only way to cast anyone other than Ford and it be "passable" as Han is to make the movie take place YEARS before we knew him (in his 20s).
