If anyone thinks this is noteworthy, they should follow recruiting a little more closely... this is Romper Room stuff.

Bowden, for one, did much worse, more underhanded shit than that each and every year recruiting against UF.

Hell, Bobby did worse than that recruiting against his OWN SONS; first Terry while he was the coach at AU, and then Tommy while he was the coach at Clemson... stuff that was devious enough to make Mom worry about the family and chastise the old phony.

Saban doesn't recruit any backups. They all get a chance to compete and rotate in if they are good enough. Franklin tried to manipulate recruits to go where he wanted them to go other than Vandy. Vandy really should expect better. Kids get torn in their decisions enough without people telling them to go to the moon. He should have kept his trap shut, unless asked for his opinion.

When scholarships were unlimited, yeah they did that but in todays time, a coach isn't going to recruit someone just to keep them from someone else. Burning a scholarship for that would be nuts.
