Most impressive: Kentucky- a couple months for Stoops and turns a bottom tier football program to a near top 25 class. very impressive.
Worst in SEC: Missouri- didn't really capitalize on SEC move, missed out on some guys late, a lot of 3 stars but that's it.
Worst overall: USC- lost guys left and right in the final days. Kiffin known as a recruiter gets killed, he'll be out soon.
Agree for the most part. I think if you measure it by expectations of a program UT might have done worse than Mizzou.
Mizzou is a new player around here and they'll have to establish some recruiting trails before they start rolling in recruiting. The other new guy on the block, TAMU, has its talent-rich home state to keep it from suffering the same fate.
But UT, as an SEC original and one of the more historically successful programs in our conference, shouldn't be recruiting this poorly. They've had a lot of chaos and setbacks recently that certainly mitigate their recent recruiting shortcomings; but I never thought I'd see the day when UT would be this low. One would think they should be more attractive to top prospects than they have been.
Agree about Kiffin too. He lost 6 guys in the week or so leading up to NSD, and they were all blue-chippers. That might not seem like a big deal at first glance, until you realize that, because of sanctions, they only had 12-15 commitments to start with. So they lost nearly half of their class in the last week; and it was a class that was ranked in the Top 3 only a month ago despite having a dozen commits to their peers' 2 dozen.
And with Kiffin, all you get with him is recruiting; he has to have run out of folks to fool into thinking he can actually coach... no more eyes to pull the wool over. That being the case, if he's now faltering in recruiting too, there's no point in having him around... his days are numbered.
