I'm not sure what it is you're getting at. PS3 announced that they reached the 70 million units milestone 35 days after Microsoft hit the same mark for Xbox. Except that PS3 was released a full year AFTER the Xbox360, so their sales figures are more impressive.

Let's not just glance over the fact that Xbox sales have been bolstered by the fact that it is the cheaper console, which it backs up with it's quality.

Besides, how many 360 consoles that are included in that 70 million number were replacements for the buyers' first unit which crapped out on them after a year?

PS3 > Xbox360 and next gen will be the same.

my ps3 has been amazing, its like..10000 years old and still plays the latest games, has never broken down, hasn't cost me time or money. However, I will likely never buy another console, I'd rather roll the cost of a new console into buying a laptop/pc in the top 1-5% of the market. They will always out preform consoles, they don't come with extra hardware cost, and I use them all day every day. Also, other than platformers that I would play with friends (like super smash) I can play any game a console has on both systems on a PC, there is no logical reason to own a console UNLESS you buy something like a wii. Nintindo may have made the worst console of the 3 but give it 20 years and they may be the ONLY console.

Console gaming is not logical.

I haven't bought any of this generations consoles.

I was considering it, but after learning of shit like RROD and whatever the PS3's equivalent was called I said

it. I have no :lanekiffin:ing clue how they could build a console in this day and age that :lanekiffin:s up that badly. My SNES and N64 still works perfectly fine, and my gamecube that I bought not too long after it launched only stopped working this past year. And people I know who have PS2s/the Original XBox haven't had any problems out of them.

How do you go backwards in development?

GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, SONY AND MICROSOFT(haven't heard of Wiis or Wii Us quitting on people, so I won't yell at them >_>)

Anyway, I'm going to wait a while before deciding on buying one from this next gen...if they have similar problems, I'm never going to buy a new console.

to be clear here, xbox (microsoft) had a 33% fail rate (more like 75%) for all of their systems while ps3 had a .2% fail rate at time of release. so...yeah your reasoning there makes zero sense.
