Wouldn't benefit the SEC one bit. ACC schools then use the SEC recruiting pitch. shits dumb

Seems like they are just scared of falling apart like the big east, so they're doing everything they can to keep the conferences intact. The acc already added the 50 million buyout for teams, but that didn't work. Now this is coming up. I'd say both conferences know if they want to get to 14 or 16 they'd have to water down their conferences, and one of the two would probably disappear since there will probably only be 4 16 team conferences. The SEC is almost there, the big 10 is getting there, and already took an acc team. So there's only room for 2 more, but there are 3 conferences left. The pac 12 is probably in the best in the best shape to pick up enough to get there.

So that leaves the acc and big 12 left. I don't see it as an alliance so much as a ceasefire. I don't see an "alliance" working too good as there would be too many details to work out and variables that would come into play when working out a tv contract. I still say one of those two conferences will disappear, being absorbed into the other 3 super conferences.

I'd say get rid of the acc. That leaves a super conference for the South, North, Midwest, and West. I liked things the way they were, but if we're moving towards the super conferences I think that would be the best way.

Just go back to how conferences were before this started.  West Virginia in the same conference as Kansas and Texas is flat out stupid.

Louisville, Boston College, and Miami are now in the same conference (again, I guess you can say.)

Geographical regions, institute a playoff like EVERY OTHER DAMN SPORT IN EXISTENCE, and be done with it.

That's what should have happened.  Now it's too late....the ball is rolling and the new playoff has folks scrambling to get a piece of that pie.

No offense to you purists but the bowl system has always sucked.

No, it started sucking when they started to add these mid-major shitfest bowls and letting I-AA teams into I-A. And trust me, if they start a playoff, there will come a day where there is a 6 or 7 game regular season and a 64 team playoff with half the teams being scrub-ass Sun Belt, MAC, and OVC teams.

Full disclosure, I have always been in favor of taking the Big Dance back to 32 teams.  This day and age 16 would be extreme but that would be ideal IMO.  So I agree w/you 100%.  This notion of rewarding 6-6 teams is complete bull.  At the VERY least I think 8-4 should be the baseline for qualifying.  It was always a money grab because of the rabid thirst for football.  Of course we all like an opportunity to see our team play one more game.  But did I truly care about our bowl game in Birmingham on January 7th against East Carolina?  Hell no.  Or against Pittsburgh?  Or against Clemson for the 2nd time?  No.

Someone with the clout to tell these bowl venues to get over themselves and get everyone collectively together to move the sport forward to where it needs to be needs to do so.  They are ruining the sport.  Treat them like NIT games if they must remain, but just like anything outside of the BCSNCG now, people only care about the road to the championship.  Give them more games to be excited about that count towards that and you have something.

Bowl games are the play-in games, but worse, of college football.  At least a play-in gives a shot towards a title

Anyone who wants to make the argument that the season IS a playoff is wrong.  The season gives you the chance to prove that you deserve to qualify to compete for the championship.  Just as all conferences, schedules, etc aren't created equal, prove yourself in a tournament.  The Pac 12 can shut up when they get smacked and we can gloat when we rape and pillage the playoff landscape.

I admit I've grown to like you guys, but my first choice when we expanded last was North Carolina and Virginia Tech.  I still want them.  It's just ridiculous to have a conference titled the Southeastern Conference not have representation in the states of North Carolina and Virginia.

Yeah I would've preferred a NC school( unc or state) and vt. I still think we'll end up there because 16 seems to make more sense than 14. I say we need to go ahead and make that happen then let everyone else worry about how to keep up. The big 10 seems to be moving in that direction, and I think the pac 12 will follow suit. If the acc and big 12 think an alliance is the best choice for them then let em do it. I don't see it being a long term solution, but as long as the SEC is taken care of then let everyone else worry about their own problems.
