works for me, but how should it be divided to make it fair?  also, would we have a mini playoff to decide the conference winner, or how would it work?

All good questions, and I havent thought about it much.

In regards to the DC market.

I hate to break it to everyone but my kids live in DC so I'm up there often.  If you're trying to capture the DC market you grab Maryland.  Not VT or UVA

Blacksburgh is 4.5 hours away from DC and Charlottesville is 2.5 away.  College Park is inside the Beltway (their Permieter) and 30 mins from DC.  Whenever I put on their sports shows or radio all I ever I hear about is Maryland football.

Driving through the state on the 95 it's hard to tell who t runs the state but once you get to Alexandria and DC it seems like nothing but Maryland stuff everywhere.

there will be a va team and a nc team but which i do not know. the rest of the relevant acc teams will go big 12. I think they can handle about 6 or 7 of them right now. You can just see it happening for yall "i want a playoff mofos". 4 leagues, 16 in each, 4 divisions in each league, 2 division games to see who plays in the league nc, winner of league nc goes on to play in 4 team playoff they have already established. sucks.

Yeah I don't see that happening.

The SEC wants to get no bigger than 16 but if you want to stop a B1G invasion into the south, the SEC should go to 18.  To stop the B1G invasion, you need to get Virginia.  The B1G likes AAU schools, UVa is one and VT is not.  If the SEC get UVa and UNC then other than GT and Duke the B1G is limited.

In my opinion the SEC should invite UNC, UVa and Duke along with a 4th team.  As far as VT football over UVa football, with SEC membership, Virginia will become much stronger than VT, just like what you see happening with Texas A&M over Texas. UVa could be lured away from the B1G if the SEC gets UNC.  If you were not aware UVA-UNC football is the oldest rivalry in the south not Georgia-Auburn.  Virginia would love to still be associated with the Heels.  You get UNC if you take Duke.

The 4th school should be FSU.  FSU does not add a new TV market to the SEC, but would add 5.5 million cable and satellite subscribers to the Big Ten Network.  FSU would also give the B1G schools more exposure to Florida recruits.  Florida recruiting is what should concern SEC schools.  9 out 14 SEC schools have at least 10 Florida kids on their roster.  Ole Miss has 16.  SEC recruiting is simple, get the best kids from your state and fill in the other spots with Florida recruits.  Has Ha-ha Clinton-Dix and Amara Cooper helped Alabama?  The SEC should protect Florida at all cost.  If the B1G got FSU would the SEC still out recruit the B1G in Florida, yes, but the B1G would get more and SEC depth would be depleted some.

My new SEC

East-Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia
South-Alabama, Auburn, FSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky
West-LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Missouri

Adding those 4, will pretty much stop all this expansion, maybe GT and BC join the B1G, so what.
At least it stop expansion until the Big XII GOR expires when Texas will be begging to join the SEC.

I like it other than Florida and FSU need to be in the same division. Its too much of a state rivalry (recruiting) for them not to play in the same division.

Just my opinion.

With those 4, SEC gets 2 new markets, 3 AAU schools, 2 national basketball programs.

The SEC is already the best in football and baseball but basketball is seriously lacking.  Basketball and baseball will be the main "live" SEC network content.

The B1G wants to be the biggest sports network behind only ESPN. If that happens, their schools could be bringing in millions more than SEC schools.

Another good point.

Well the reason I edited my post so much at first is I kept doing the math. With only 3 division games you also have to schedule 3 or 4 non conference, and than come up with some sort of rotation in conference. 3 divisions may work, but again you have to institute some kind of rotation again. I don't like rotation. Its unfair since teams don't play the same divisional schedule.

16 teams makes more sense. 2 divisions. 7 division games. 4 non conference. Maybe one is a rivalry game like Clemson/USC, Florida/Miami or FSU, Georgia/Georgia Tech, etc. If we got Oklahoma and Oklahoma State we could continue that rivalry too. Maybe start new rivals like TAMU/Mizzu and stuff. I mean seriously, is TAMU really rivals with SMU? SMU has been hardly relevant since the death penalty during the Eric Dickerson years and they're moving to the BIG LEAST anyway.

No disrespect to Mizzou, but I don't see that being much of a rivalry.  Just not much hype.

Would Texas Tech be a better non conference?
