I could see that.

Other than the possibility of taking a slight hit in recruiting I see no reason A&M would care.
“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”

The SEC wants to get no bigger than 16 but if you want to stop a B1G invasion into the south, the SEC should go to 18.  To stop the B1G invasion, you need to get Virginia.  The B1G likes AAU schools, UVa is one and VT is not.  If the SEC get UVa and UNC then other than GT and Duke the B1G is limited.

In my opinion the SEC should invite UNC, UVa and Duke along with a 4th team.  As far as VT football over UVa football, with SEC membership, Virginia will become much stronger than VT, just like what you see happening with Texas A&M over Texas. UVa could be lured away from the B1G if the SEC gets UNC.  If you were not aware UVA-UNC football is the oldest rivalry in the south not Georgia-Auburn.  Virginia would love to still be associated with the Heels.  You get UNC if you take Duke.

The 4th school should be FSU.  FSU does not add a new TV market to the SEC, but would add 5.5 million cable and satellite subscribers to the Big Ten Network.  FSU would also give the B1G schools more exposure to Florida recruits.  Florida recruiting is what should concern SEC schools.  9 out 14 SEC schools have at least 10 Florida kids on their roster.  Ole Miss has 16.  SEC recruiting is simple, get the best kids from your state and fill in the other spots with Florida recruits.  Has Ha-ha Clinton-Dix and Amara Cooper helped Alabama?  The SEC should protect Florida at all cost.  If the B1G got FSU would the SEC still out recruit the B1G in Florida, yes, but the B1G would get more and SEC depth would be depleted some.

My new SEC

East-Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia
South-Alabama, Auburn, FSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky
West-LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Missouri

Adding those 4, will pretty much stop all this expansion, maybe GT and BC join the B1G, so what.
At least it stop expansion until the Big XII GOR expires when Texas will be begging to join the SEC.
slow down on aggy. Texas problems have nothing to do with the sec and everything to do with mack brown. When he leaves texas will be back.

Not sure I am all in for OU and Okie State.  In my opinion lots of problems in the Big 12 can go back to OU.  In the days of the Big 8, OU was a great member institution of the Big 8.  The rivalry between the Nubs and OU was fantastic!  They were a great conference member.  That is until Bevo came knocking.  There were just too many times with the additional votes from OU and OSU siding with the Texas schools, wrong decisions were made.  Had OU and OSU stayed true to their ol Big 8 friends Bevo would have been held in check.  Oklahoma certainly is not without blame for some of the downfall of the Big 12. I look at it as we are free and clear from it and don't need to look back.  We are extremely happy and proud to be where we are now, why would we want to change the landscape to include parts of where we were?

The big 10 sucks. We're not going to add f$u just to keep them out of FL...and having fsu in the big 10 doesn't mean a kid in Miami will suddenly want to go play football in Wisconsin. In your scenario we're adding two NC schools and another FL school. That means we'd cutting the pie into 18 pieces when duke and fsu don't bring enough to justify it.

The SEC will expand in ways that make it more marketable and profitable, not because its worried about the sh!tty big 10 getting better.

Just my opinion.

With those 4, SEC gets 2 new markets, 3 AAU schools, 2 national basketball programs.

The SEC is already the best in football and baseball but basketball is seriously lacking.  Basketball and baseball will be the main "live" SEC network content.

The B1G wants to be the biggest sports network behind only ESPN. If that happens, their schools could be bringing in millions more than SEC schools.

I hate to think about expansion. Not again. Not so soon! But if it HAD to happen you would find me hoping for the Oklahoma duo.

It has a lot to do with the SEC.  Texas knew damn well what would happen if we went to the SEC.  Its starting to hurt.  We've already taken several recruits from them and are ahead in recruiting.  Something that tu wanted to NOT happen.  Think about it......if it were Mack Brown, he would have been canned mid season.  All that "money" tu has and can't find a top notch coach?  C'mon man!

You can bet one good thing to come out of a 16 team conference.   It will require the conference to play 12 conference games each season, otherwise it would take 12 years to rotate thru the other division.

Content is the key driving revenue for the conference.  We need full intra-conference schedules to build rivalry and feed TV revenue.

with a 9 game schedule, you could rotate 16 or 18 schools through every 3 years to 4 years depending on how divisions are set up

I kind of like the idea of a pod format if we go to 16 teams.

SEC wants one of the Virginia schools real bad lots of exposure into the DC Market especially with Virginia Tech if sec can't get either of the Virginia schools, they'll take the next best thing UNC/Duke and their basketball rivaly along with complete exposure in The north carolina area

OU and Okie Lite is best, I don't get everyone's obsession with Vtech and NCstate... and I don't care what sport we're discussing... it isn't even close.

works for me, but how should it be divided to make it fair?  also, would we have a mini playoff to decide the conference winner, or how would it work?
