That being the case, we'd love to add the states of Virginia and NC to our footprint; and the way to do that is get 1 of the Va. teams (VT or UVA) and any 1 of the 4 NC teams (UNC, NCS, Duke, or WF).
If we just happen to get a couple of programs that are good at football and/or basketball, good, that's a bonus; but it is secondary to what the conference is trying to accomplish. Total number of viewers is what drives the big TV contracts from ESPN, ABC, FOX, and CBS.

FOOTBALL - 11-2 (7-1) #9/10 BASKETBALL - 29-8 (14-4) #9 BASEBALL - 28-25 (13-14)
2012-13 SEC/ALC Championships: Men's Basketball, Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, Gymnastics (NC), Women's Tennis, Lacrosse, Softball

Well I guess when you put it that way we just need to wait for all the hippies in NC to decide to get running water and a television where you don't have to change the channel on the set and goes above 13.

North Carolina is great overall in all sports and its academics are up there too.
All in all if we get them its great for the SEC.

If I wanted college sports to be like the pros, I would watch the pros.
At least this conference loyalty stuff will be over and done with.

Hippies? In NC? I think you mean hillbillies. If there are any hippies below the Mason-Dixon line, they're in hiding and only come out at night.

Better hope not; the other conferences' failure to understand the importance of that solidarity is partly responsible for our dominance.
I've read another half dozen quotes from blue chippers this year about their insistance on playing in the SEC. They were considering several different programs, as long as they were competing in the SEC.
Of course, most SEC fans will still have a greater affinity for the original members; but I sure enjoyed watching ATM stick it to Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl... loved it.
