thought we could get a thread going about Arkansas's 2013 recruiting class. We know this isn't going to be a top 10-20 class this year, as the new staff will have had a little less than 2 months to really recruit by NSD, but they're on some big names right now. Coach Bielema says he plans to sign a full class, but that may be pretty tough to do.

Our first big recruiting weekend got kicked off today.
I'll go back and add more players later, but one commitment we're expecting to get this weekend is from Reeve Koehler, #6 OG in America by rivals.

Koehler committed today! Great news for us.

Yeah I haven't been posting much, I've been traveling a lot with new job and just got Internet hooked up at new house. I'll be around more often, but mostly in the evenings.

Reeve Koehler commits to Hogs, drops 30 spots in Rivals 250 two days later.

Hunter Henry, who just last week Rivals was saying would probably be bumped to a 5 star, reaffirms his commitment to Arkansas and drops almost 50 spots the next day. Nah, those recruiting rankings aren't arbitrary at all.

I noticed that. The rating system is skewed that way. That's why teams like texass have top-five classes year in and year out, and still get smoked on the field by lesser-ranked teams weekly.

i understand letting some of the previous staff's commits go bc they werent SEC-quality, but we're 2 weeks from NSD with half a class...

praying for collins! (and AT, but i think thats a lost cause)

Tenpenny would be quite the coup, if we could land him. But they'd just drop him to a 3-star and laud Bama for getting rid of him...

Austin Allen being left out of the 250 was BS as well. His is a situation where your ranking suffers just because of who you are, who your dad is, and where you live.

I've heard stories like this happening, but just regarded it as pissed off fans' hogwash. This right here is corrupt. They're just catering to the rich "premiere" fanbases.

Anywoo, I think a better evaluation is the kid's offer list, not stars or rankings.

I'm not normally a ranking service conspiracy theorist, but Koehler and Henry dropping like that and leaving Allen out is ridiculous.
Besides, if our new staff was too worried about this year's class ranking we wouldn't have told 4 4* recruits to look elsewhere.

Rivals is just trying to get more subscriptions from the Texas's and Alabama's. Not saying their classes aren't legitmate, but seems they do insure that these programs remain near the top to pique fan interest. A little bit anyway, just subtlely.

tenpenny called the hogs because he was dared to. i personally dont think i want tenpenny. this feels like a player that has a huge ego and would feel like the school owed him something for choosing us. let him go shine the bench at bama and get his attitude adjustment. i think once BB gets our offensive line built a 3 star running back can look like a god.

I want a player who weighs his options and decides for himself what's in his best interests. I'll have no hard feelings as long as he doesn't talk shit or trash the Arkansas program on his way down the road. That said, I'm hoping for a flip as well...
