you we'll do what we want this is DEMOCRACY" forgetting that we're in fact a republic with protections for individual liberty, are increasingly making some people view them as an illegitimate authority.

The entire basis of stability in this country is the fact that people do view the gov't as a legitimate governing authority. When that goes away, for whatever reason, that's how you end up with a shooting war. If you want main street USA to look like downtown Baghdad, go ahead, keep pushing. I personally hope I'm far far away from whereever the spark catches fire....

A lot of people thought the government was heavy-handed/outright criminal in its handling of the Waco affair. Just because it isn't a hot-button issue for you doesn't matter. Maybe Ruby Ridge is more meaningful to you personally.

The message is the same: opposing the government in armed conflict isn't going to work out for you
