The crime committed in that case was by the federal government

That whole Waco thing really ruined a lot of you Southern boys' militia fantasies, didn't it?

What militia fantasy? "That whole Waco thing" is better described as a complete fiasco.

I am not accountable for the acts of spainish conquest.

This is true. But the point is you're perfectly fine with people imposing their will, as long as you agree with it.

No. It was a religious cult. A militia is not even close to the same thing. Try Google to atleast attempt to keep this stuff straight.

I didn't say Waco was a militia. I said watching Waco ruins your fantasies of rising up against the government...a distinctly Southern characteristic

Why oh why am I surprised that our merry band of libs is ok with burning children alive.

Why am I also surprised that they don't seem to get that their actions and attitude of "Original Image: http://www.sectalk.c.../lanekiffin.gif you we'll do what we want this is DEMOCRACY" forgetting that we're in fact a republic with protections for individual liberty, are increasingly making some people view them as an illegitimate authority.

The entire basis of stability in this country is the fact that people do view the gov't as a legitimate governing authority. When that goes away, for whatever reason, that's how you end up with a shooting war. If you want main street USA to look like downtown Baghdad, go ahead, keep pushing. I personally hope I'm far far away from whereever the spark catches fire....

Why would WACO have any effect on anything outside re enforcing a distrust of cults? No one came out armed in support of WACO.

DO you even try to understand this stuff or do you just make it up?

A lot of people thought the government was heavy-handed/outright criminal in its handling of the Waco affair. Just because it isn't a hot-button issue for you doesn't matter. Maybe Ruby Ridge is more meaningful to you personally.

The message is the same: opposing the government in armed conflict isn't going to work out for you

No I am not. I am in favor of the rule of law. Enforcing it and all that. I am in favor of defending my rights and all that. Do not over step either and I am more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

They were heavy handed and its a shame David took all those folks with him. That isnt opposed to my statement that he was delusional and needed to die.

What can I tell you, smokey? Maybe it's a Northern/Southern thing. Maybe I'm naive. The thought or necessity of having guns to protect me from the government has never entered my mind

Apparently Crazy Uncle Joe has been quoted as saying "We don't have time to prosecute everyone who lies on their 4473/background check."

No time to enforce the current laws, so we need a big pile of new laws to enforce. Makes sense to me!

Replacing inefficient processes with better ones should be the aim of government
