Obama's gun agenda. OR - "Welcome to your new police state."

I find it highly ironic that liberals who bashed Bush for years for the Patriot Act now wholly support Obama's suggested legislation that essentially does nothing to protect the citizenry and does everything to empower the federal government.
Quick question for you -
Part of Obama's agenda states
PROTECT POLICE BY GETTING RID OF ARMOR-PIERCING BULLETS:
The President also is calling for legislation to finish the job of getting armorpiercing bullets off the streets by prohibiting the possession and transfer of this
dangerous ammunition, in addition to its manufacture and import.
- now, I'm confused, so maybe one of you liberal would help me out here. I thought the point of all this was to protect our children? So why the attention paid to "protecting police?" Can someone here please point me to an incident where a bunch of police officers were shot with armor-piercing rounds?
GIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT ADDITIONAL TOOLS TO PREVENT AND
PROSECUTE GUN CRIME: We owe law enforcement the tools they need to
keep us safe.
- Hmmm. So, in other words, give them more power and less restrictions. That sounds like a good idea. Where's your outrage, libs?
It's funny because some of you have mocked the comparisons to the early days of Hitler's reign in Germany, but all of this is EXACTLY what happened in Germany before the nation became completely powerless to stop what Hitler was doing.
The sad thing is that he's pushing this agenda USING the deaths of innocents to take advantage of stupid Americans and their inability to put emotion aside. He's had this agenda in his pocket, waiting for something like this to happen so he could shove it down our throats, much like Obamacare. And ignorant America is eating it up.
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin

I personally love how Obama wants to punish those who enable straw purchases of guns
Operation Fast and Furious, anyone?

As a side note, thanks to a new law in New York my gun, for which I have a carry permit, would now be illegal as its magazines hold more than seven rounds. This is where the whole country will be in a few years if we let this shit happen.
I kept failing a math test at the University of Alabama because every time I added 5+3 I got 8 and they kept insisting that the right answer was 14.

I can tell you right now what that is for. They're going to define "armor piercing" as anything that can defeat soft body armor, which is basically every rifle round in existence. No rifle ammo = no rifles. They've tried this bullshit before...

Meh. Don't care. Piles of dead kids at Sandy Hook has been the best thing that ever happened to the NRA. Tons of sales, allows them to pitch the idea of armed people in schools, etc
I personally don't think anybody needs rifles, so I don't give a shit if they're taken away

How dare our dictator ask congress to do something! How dare an elected official ask other elected officials to take a vote on something to make a law!
For Shame!!!

Then I'll tell you what, please go shout that from the rooftops. Tell everybody you know that what you've really wanted all along is to take away rifles even down to grandads deer rifle. Tell them what the rest of us have known forever, that the intent is prohibition. The population will just FLOCK to your side!

There's a difference between not caring if they're taken away and campaigning for it

Can we please, for the love of God, merge all of these threads?? Maybe something like the "Obama is the devil, give me my guns, Murrica catch all thread"
“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”

Then you don't care about your freedom of speech, either. You can't care about one inalienable right, and not the other. Once one has been taken away, nothing says they can't take away the other. So go right ahead not caring. I'll bet you'll care quite a bit when you're no longer allowed to speak your dissent with the government.

Not to mention hollowpoint rounds, which are the ONLY thing I'll load my sidearm with, because if I ever have to use it in defense, I'm not
ing around with anything else. When you get right down to it, Obama would really like to just come out and take away ALL ammunition except rubber rounds.

You being unable to own a bazooka of your own hardly equates to totalitarianism

A rifle = a bazooka? Six months from now you'll be calling revolvers bazookas at this rate.
BTW - you DO realize that a "bazooka" is not a gun, right?
