While I'm not debating the rest of your post... I want to address the underlined.

It seems the them with OM fans is "[Insert team here] will go nuts.." if you pull a commit.   Does it honestly matter more to ya'll about how prospective commit will help your team, or is it more important to win the press conference and/or be able to rub other fanbases' noses in it?  

Honest question because in my dealings with message board ramblings as well as casual occurrences with OM fans in the real life... it seems as though ya'll care more about being able to brag than how much the recruit will help.  I am fully aware that the opportunity to brag presents itself regardless... but I hear so much rambling and see so many posts that are more vocal about "so-and-so will be so pissed lol lmao"... etc etc..
