Why or why not? I refuse to get it, and won't be getting my kids vaccinated either. I think it's a shit shot- the only time in my adult life I've had the flu was a day after receiving the vaccine.

I get it for myself and my kids every year.  Every year I've skipped it, I get the flu.

In 2009, my daughter and I caught swine flu in August, before we were able to get the shot. That's the sickest and most miserable I have ever felt.

No, but only because I'm a cheap SOB who only had the flu once or twice in my life and never since elementary school

I do believe in the vaccine.  You just have to be realistic about what it is.   They can't put every flu strain into the vaccine, so there's a good chance if you get the flu after the vaccine it's simply a strain you're not protected from.   And yes, sometimes the vaccine itself just isn't as effective.  Apparently this is one of those years.   The vaccine has been rated 62% effective this year, but some years it's 90+%.

Also, my kids have been getting FluMist for a few years now. It's a nasal spray vaccine. No needles and it's more effective.

No. I never get it and luckily I don't think I've ever gotten the flu. Like its been pointed out the odds are improved, but you never know by how much. I just try to be as cautious as possible with sanitation.

Had the flu last year, without the shot.
So, this year, I went with the shot.

My wife and I always get the flu shots every year.  I think it helps.  We also got the pneumonia shot, which is good for 5 or so years.

Went in for a check up a few months ago, nurse asks... "have you had the flu shot yet"? I says, no... and I ain't gettin' it either. She looked at me like I was crazy.

If tens of thousands of medical professionals across the country don't trust the shot, the I'll be damn if I do.

That swine vaccine scared the hell out of me a few years ago, and it comes down to 1 thing, and 1 thing only:

I don't trust the gubment. Period.
