How many SEC players end up in the NFL draft?

I'll start with Alabama. My guess is Barrett Jones, Chance Warmack, Eddie Lacy, Dee Millner, DJ Fluker, Robert Lester, Michael Williams and Jesse Williams.  Warmack, Lacy and Millner will go in the 1st round.

crazy to think that Jones might not go in the 1st, hell if I were an NFL coach, I'd pay Barrett a couple of million a year just to be a backup considering he can back up all OL positions

Yeah, I'd take Barrett in the 1st round too.  For the life of me, I don't understand why he wasn't projected in the 1st round last year.   I can see him playing for 10 years in the NFL.

In my dream scenario...

The Titans trade back a couple spots and draft Warmack in the first. Then in the second take Barrett Jones.

It's a pipe dream considering I don't think Jones slips out of the first.

His intangibles are things you can't teach.

Well, I guess I'll attempt to list those from South Carolina...

Devin Taylor
TJ Johnson
DJ Swearinger
Devonte Holloman
Shaq Wilson

Those are the ones I see getting drafted- the following COULD be drafted, but I'd more likely expect to see them signed as FAs;
Akeem Auguste
Reggie Bowens
Demario Jeffrey
Byron Jerideau

If I am not mistaken the SEC has averaged roughly 46 players drafted per year since 2000.  Far and away the most of any Conference.  This year could blow that number out of the water. I do a SEC big board and mock draft on my blog every year.  I have not gone all the way through the Tennessee, TXAM, or USC rosters and I am still working on the 4th round. Here is who I have so far and the round I like them to go in.

Jordan Reed   TE    2-3 rd
Mike Gillislee RB    3-4 rd

Georgia:
Jarvis Jones   LB    Top 5
Johnathan Jenkins  NT 1st rd
Alec Ogletree    LB    1st rd

He could fall to the third but no lower if he has a strong combine and individual workouts.  You forget that the Oakland Raiders are still allowed to draft without adult supervision.
He is a difference maker on special teams and if you add that to his game film someone will take the risk on him.

I don't think Mathieu will get drafted. Character flaws, which is big nowadays for the draft. Plus he's below average as a CB and decent in special teams.

I'm willing to make a sig bet that Lacy does not go in the first round. I'll give you 2 reasons. One is nfl teams simply don't value rbs like they use to and 2nd is his injury list. Who knows how long his body can take  the nfl abuse.

the first reason you give is reason enough and is 100% accurate. too much value for nfl teams in later rounds for RB's

No, but you do spend it on an impact player for your special teams who is also a cornerback.  That is called a value pick.
