I think USCe is a darkhorse and the favorites in the East next year.

Darkhorse nothing. USC will be picked to finish second in the pre-season. While I'm not predicting we win the East I will be disappointed if we don't.

Bama's defense has waaaaaaay more national respect than UGA's. As it should be. Saban>>>>>an other defensive coach.

And yes UGA's defense will drop off enough to give you 2 loses in the next year. Defense wins the SEC not offense.

Tell that to Texas A&M. Or Georgia. Hell, tell it to Auburn a couple years ago. Cliches aren't always true. Georgia didn't win many games this year because of defense. I can think of one. Every other game was won because of offense. Our defense didn't have us in that game against Alabama, our offense did.

You can win just as easily with a great offense and opportunistic defense as well as you can with a great defense and efficient offense.

LSU is losing some of its best defensive talent.

Also, Louisvile just might sneak into the the 10..

I meant darkhorse for the national championship, I said favorite to win the East.

I don't know how much of a darkhorse, but I'd actually think they could beat the brakes off of Stanford or Ohio State.

Meh tell that to Auburn in 2010.

Auburn had a good defense in 2010. UGA had an above average SEC defense this year and are losing more on defense than anyother team in our league.

Plus I don't see a Cam type player on UGA's roster.
Like I said UGA will be top 10, but not top 5.

Auburn's defense was generally steaming shit in 2010. Fairley was good but other than that...

Hob's right, they proved this year that you can win with a Great offense, and average or decent D.

However, it's much harder because offense is so hard to be consistent with. Georgia's wasn't consistent with USC and it was a blowout....wasn't consistent vs Florida and they won a clusterOriginal Image: http://www.sectalk.c.../lanekiffin.gif vs a one dimensional offense.

Not sure where Georgia will rank next year but is what I do know. This year our defense under performed and our offense was among the best in the SEC. Alabama averaged a 28 point margin of victory this year. They beat 2 teams by 4 (LSU, UGA) and lost one by 5. UGA and ATM were the only teams to put more than 17 points up against Bama. The weakness of UGA's offense was the young OL. By the end of the year, they had developed well. I will expect with Murray, Marshall, Gurley, and the rest of this offense back they will be very potent.

The pressure is on Grantham to get our defense back to form.

Gamecocks have had our number lately. Spurrier knew to abuse our questionable run defense with Lattimore and our offense SUCKS vs. teams with good pass rush. Well, you don't really get better pass rushers than what South Cackalacky has.

Exactly, so many more things have to go right to win offensively in this conference simply because the defenses are so good.

Your 2 chief rivals have great pass rush, and your offense suffered...Georgia's run D came to play vs Florida and allowed that win.

Either way, I actually expect UGA's defense to be better than what it for the most part this year. If not, someone needs to go...there was just a major disconnect there.

Really inconsistent, for sure. Our rush defense was awful at times. I think part of it is Kwame Geathers was subpar when he came in for Big John, coaches not playing Hererra enough ILB, and I'll catch hell for this but Jarvis Jones wasn't that useful in run defense.

We knew we were susceptible to a good pass rush before the season started due to the young OL. They should only improve against the pass rush next year with everybody back + added depth.

I expect the defense to be about the same, maybe a little better or a little worse. But they underachieved as a unit big time this year, maybe too many of them were reading their press clippings about their NFL futures, IDK. But I expect our offense will be winning games and our defense will be tasked with not losing the game for us.

See I think this past year's game was a fluke. Not because we lost, but because of the way we lost. It was just an enormously bad night on all fronts. The game from the year before is more of what I expected, and will expect this coming year. Plus you know we'll get that game at night and at home, so the atmospheres will be reversed.

True, but every good defense we will be playing next year just so happens to be losing a ton fo talent as well so will not be playing as good of defenses in SC and UF we played this year

So you think. UF and USC should both have good defenses....let's not forget the best player in college football plays DE for the Gamecocks.
