should there be a waiver process to allow a player of his caliber to declare early?

I think there should be. Because what happens if he gets not only injured, but injured to a point where he never returns to his previous form. It could cost him millions. I know South Carolina fans want him for his full 4 years but this kid is already an NFL player.

I'm more worried about what could happen to my teams players, but yes. I don't think they are on the schedule any time soon though, so whatever.

It is just stupid that the NFL uses CFB as its' minor league system. If Clowney were to have skipped college, he would have already been called up to the bigs if there were an adequate minor league system.

But yeah I think so. JC is great and has already done a lot for the program.

Obviously we want him for the full 4 years, but it's also nice to have a first overall pick taken in the draft from your school.

I really like my college football as it is, but yes it is extremely unfair to the athletes. I think it does benefit a lot of players with no shot at the NFL by getting them college degrees though, which is very valuable, particularly at a place like Vandy.

No, but the NCAA or college should provide insurance to cover draft-ready players in the event they sustain a career ending injury prior to becoming draft eligible.

The designation "draft-ready" may be somewhat subjective but there are plenty of analysts around to place a value on a player.

these superstar player do have insurance on their bodies. The schools don't pay for it, but usually the parents do. When they realize their children are gonna be multimillionaires, they're gonna protect that cash cow
