No surprise here. I saw it posted somewhere "If Sanchez and Tebow can make active rosters, why not Bray?"

Valid point.

Of the UT QBs that I can remember that were regular starters for at least 2 seasons (back to early 90s) I'd rank them:

1 Manning
2 C. Clausen
3 Shuler
4 Martin
5 Ainge
6 Bray
7 Crompton

Bray is the king of garbage time stats and killing MAC/SunBelt defenses.

You'd really rank Clausen that high?

Actually, I think him leaving is good for himself, and the program. The new coach is going to be running a lot more, and is going to want a Vick type qb running the offense.
Vick-type? We have running backs if we wanted a Vick type.

We want a dual threat with pro-style measurables.

Clausen was a motherOriginal Image: http://www.sectalk.c.../lanekiffin.gifing gamer. I'd kill to have a QB like that every single year. He had one road SEC loss. ONE. That is absurd.

Bray sucked. Yeah, he could light up Buffalo and Akron but almost always became invisible when big boy football started. Santa Claus is right about Clausen, I hated that bastard.

Another thing about Clausen is that in 03, he went to Miami and won when we had undersized RB's and Jomo Original Image: http://www.sectalk.c.../lanekiffin.gifing Fagan as his WR's. Had Clausen had what Bray had at wideout, he might have made people forget the name Manning in Knoxville.

Yeah, I never really got why people didn't like him at the time other than he wasn't named Peyton.

I just meant a fast mobile qb, who can pass Vick type. Without the turnovers.

No

As a freshman Casey won the starters job half way through the 2000 season and won all 6 games (starting at Alabama) he started that season. He was never really challenged for the starting spot from that point on. He was a coherent defensive scheme against a running backup quarterback in the SECCG from playing for a national championship in 2001.

Crompton started one games in 06 as a freshman and lost (@ Arkansas). Crompton was handed the starting job in 2008 but could not hold on to it. His senior year he improved from terrible to mediocre but only after Lane Kiffin dumbed down the offense.

Clausen..............Crompton

One mock draft I saw had him going to SD in the 3rd. I thought that was funny. Him and Philip Rivers on the same team. QB meeting would be awesome after losses. Both of them pouting in the corner while the QB coach tried to show them film.

Yeah, no. Go watch the Bama game from 03. He epitomized the phrase "Whatever It Takes To Win". Our WR's from 2002-2003 weren't even worthy of D-I status, except for James Banks, who was a converted QB.

Hmmmm.... for me Tee's gotta be #2 on that list! I'm sorry but "scoreboard" is the ultimate stat and Tee was perfect in that regard. Nobody else on that list can make that claim! What he lacked in raw, glitzy talent and skills he made up for in leadership ability.... something neither Ainge or Bray know/knew the first thing about. Even Clausen to a certain measure.

Heath may have been one of the most overrated Vols QB in modern history. You look at the talent he had around him and frankly he should have done better or produced better results. Seemed he just couldn't win the "big one". Damn.... hate to say it but kinda like Peyton.
Phyllis-But it is a big deal. You almost killed Stanley.
Dwight-Yeah right! I filled him full of butter and sugar for 50 years and forced him not to exercise!

Bray struggled because of his coaching environment. You put him with a coach that could motivate him and he'd be All American.
